The 3 Magical Benefits of Realizing Becoming Is More Important Than Achieving
For years I had a routine when I returned home from work.
I would put the car in park and then recite 3 statements to help me shift mind states and be fully present and ready to serve my family when I walked through the front door.
One of those statements was this:
“I’m not defined by how much I did or didn’t get done today, but by who I’m becoming as a result of my choices.”
This statement exemplified BECOMING > ACHIEVING.
Reciting this statement help me mentally shift so I could enjoy 3 benefits:
- I could leave any burden of work behind.
- I could play on the floor with my kids and laugh and be renewed.
- It created mental margin that allowed for creative breakthroughs in my work problems even while fully present and fully engaged with my family.
It sounds magical, right?
It is!
So, what makes this practice so powerful?
Next week I’ll share transforming insight into how your brain makes this work for you and not against you.
For now, what routines help you shift out of task mode and into relational mode?
